Playa Parlama is located on the Pacific coast in Tecojate village. We are a 2 hours drive from Lake Atitlan and 2.5 hours drive from Antigua. The village of Tecojate is easy to reach.
When you are in Tecojate though the roads get rough and if your car will survive them you'll be parking on the sand. Therefore we recommend that you park your 2wd car at one of the parking lots at the roundabout in Tecojate, then cross the river on a boat and walk through town on the road to your left (the only road) to Playa Parlama at the end of town. That's 800 meters. Call us to pick you up if you like.
If your car can survive rough and parking on the sand - follow the map of the road that skirts the mangroves and reaches Playa Parlama. Travel slowly, as you will encounter potholes, cows, goats, pigs, children and other obstacles in this road. If arriving after dark, be aware that black cows are very difficult to see on the road.
feeling adventurous? take a Chicken bus
From Lake Atitlan take a chicken bus to Cocales, then another - to Nueva Concepcion and finally - one to Tecojate. If you're lucky you might catch a bus that goes directly to Nueva Concepcion.
From Antigua (we'll update this one when the ashes of the volcano will be sweeped...)
When you're in Tecojate - take a boat to cross the river and walk through town on the road to your left (the only road) to Playa Parlama at the end of town. That's 800 meters. Call us to pick you up if you like.
